The Boeing CompanyBoeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking to provide students of Boeing Manufacturing Accelerated Careers certified courses with the opportunity to join our 787 production teams working as an Aircraft Assembly Production Test Mechanic to support the 787-production system in North Charleston, South Carolina on a variable shift.
This role offers an exciting opportunity within a dynamic manufacturing assembly environment. Team members will leverage their prior experience, along with the knowledge gained through foundational training and certifications, to complete daily assigned tasks safely and with quality.
Individuals will be responsible for identifying their work locations on advanced airplanes, parts, and tooling by interpreting intricate drawings to accurately complete detailed work instructions. Attention to detail and procedure compliance is critical to identify all necessary hand tools, parts, and equipment required to ensure defect-free work. Primary Responsibilities:

Must successfully complete the new hire foundational training to obtain and maintain all required certifications.

Look up/read/comprehend electronic technical work instructions, drawings and/or specifications.
Wear appropriate protective clothing/equipment determined by the task performed.
Operate various mechanical lifts (e.g. ladders, tiger and snorkel lifts).
Use various hand tools and diagnostic equipment such as screwdrivers, ratchets, power screwdriver multi meters, continuity testers.
Apply chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints and special finishes.
Inspect your work quality and check for Foreign Object Debris.
Work around energized sources (electrical equipment and hazards/shock, e.g. circuit breakers and wiring) and exposure to constant noise.
Finger manipulation (keyboarding, other).
Lifting and carrying up to 10-35 pounds.
Climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), crawling, crouching (squatting).
Flexion/Extension (head bent down, head bent back), handling, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching (overhead), rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist and walking.
Perform functional testing of aircraft electrical systems and components as well as perform aircraft systems troubleshooting and fault repair.
Assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance.
Perform complex production assembly operations on structural parts, mechanical assemblies, subassemblies and aircraft systems, equipment and accessories using manual or automated assembly tools.
Identify roadblocks and production constraints escalating issues which cannot be resolved by the team using open and clear communication.
Support teammates to improve overall team performance by providing cross training and mentoring.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Be a military servicemember or recent veteran from an aligned Military Occupation Code with a valid Boeing Accelerated Hiring Pathways Endorsement Form.
Physical demands and requirements:
Must have the ability to work variable shifts (first, second, or third) based on business needs.
Must be able to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.
Must be able to lift/carry up to 35 pounds; push/pull using up to 45 pounds of force; and reach overhead up to six hours per day.
Must be able to work with high-hazard chemicals using proper protective equipment provided.
Must be able to complete and maintain Confined Space and Fall Protection certifications, if required.
Experience using software applications such as internet navigation, email, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or other specialized computer applications.
Experience following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, along with successful completion of training and knowledge assessments involving mathematical calculations, all conducted in English.
Experience in a manufacturing, technical, or mechanical field, including equivalent education or military experience, performing work with basic hand, power, and/or pneumatic (air) tools.
Experience in electrical assembly and/or electronic materials.
Experience in avionics systems troubleshooting, wire bundle installations, and aircraft electrical systems troubleshooting.
